The BamCore Team was drawn together by a universal desire to decarbonize the built environment. We are driven to quickly innovate a sustainable building solution to improve quality of life and lower greenhouse gases.
Our mission doesn't end there. How we get things done is as important as what we get done. We recognize that we are all connected, that our actions extend beyond the present moment and ripple out across the world and years.
We embrace these four core values to guide us into the future:
Collaboration: Cultivating an open exchange of ideas and teamwork within our team, the built environment, and our community, both locally and globally.
Innovation: Aspiring to the everyday task of making unobvious connections to create excellence in product development, sustainable global supply chains, carbon sequestration, operating energy efficiencies, and community building.
Integrity: Operating with openness, kindness, respect, and honesty in all transactions to bring forth things of quality. Including taking responsibility for our missteps.
Sustainability: Committing to sustainable practices that support ecological, human, and economic health and vitality from end to end. In managing material growth, harvest, sourcing, product development, material engineering, delivery, construction, and the material life cycle.
Global Bamboo Technologies green engineers a customizable and code-compliant dual-panel framing solution that eliminates 80% of wood studs, headers, and posts. By leveraging advanced BIM technology and the strength and sustainability of timber bamboo, the Generation 3 BamCore Prime Wall system is a viable solution to the housing and climate crisis. The Global Bamboo Technologies system is a safe, thermally efficient, healthy, and quickly installed framing solution that saves carbon, time, labor, and money.
BamCore is the 2021 winner of the Ivory Prize for affordable building and an NGBS and Sonoma County certified green company.

BamCore, an innovative California company that green engineers a bamboo-wood hybrid framing solution, won the 2021 Ivory Innovations Prize for Affordable Building.
Global Bamboo Technologies Inc.’s (GBT) BamCore Prime Wall System has been third-party certified by Home Innovation Research Labs for its ability to help builders and developers meet the requirements of the ICC-700 National Green Building Standard® (NGBS).
Eliminate OSB, furring, jack and king studs, and rigid foam insulation.
Significantly reduce or eliminate Drywall.
The whole wall is a stud. You can hang cabinets, etc., anywhere.
The walls come with MDO paper on one side; you tape the seams and paint.
The walls are precision cut at the factory to millimeter accuracy for every window, door, outlet, and access panel.
MEPI maps and nail patterns are drawn onto the panels to eliminate guesswork and speed installation.
The walls are numbered, palletized, and delivered to the job site.
No heavy equipment is needed to erect the walls.
They are easily installed on a traditional bottom plate.
Three laborers skilled with a pneumatic nail gun can do the installation in half the time of a conventional stick-constructed wall.
BamCore eliminates over 80% of wood studs, headers, and posts, reducing thermal bridging and air leakage.
In 2020 BamCore became Global Bamboo Technologies with the launch of innovative software poised to transform the low-rise built environment. Leveraging the Forge platform, Global Bamboo Technologies developed a job site application that transforms Revit model data into animated 3D construction plans. The job site crew can animate the construction order and view each panel's position. The animation can be stopped, started, backed up, or moved ahead at any point. In addition, details of any panel or component can be exploded for further review. This dynamic visual building plan removes language barriers and allows project teams to open their hiring possibilities to workers of all skill levels.
Further, the software encourages collaboration between the trades. For example, the Design, Bid, and Build extension allows subcontractors to bid their portion of the job using the precise BIM dimensions and locations. This feature is easily accessible from a visual browser session. The custom extensions in the Viewer also enable the field installation crew to browse through pallets, isolate specific elements, create and access lumber cut lists, and draw within the program to indicate MEPI locations.
Once all the information has been uploaded and signed off on, the panels are precision cut to millimeter accuracy for every door, window, outlet, and access panel. Finally, a MEPI map and a nail pattern are drawn onto the panels. Then, they are numbered, palletized, and wrapped for delivery to the job site. Installation is fast and easy with little to no job site rework waste, saving you time and money.
Reduces job site labor cost, while widening the labor pool
Eliminates MEPI installation guesswork, and improves collaboration
Speeds the project build and reduces job site rework error and waste
Winners of the Ivory Prize for affordable building, the BamCore framing solution is code compliant, and NGBS certified green. We utilize highly renewable, sustainably grown timber bamboo, which sequesters more carbon than a similar tree stand. We patented a low embodied energy process that doesn't use heat, chemicals, water, or emit formaldehyde off-gassing to green engineer the panels. The stud-less dual-panel wall design reduces thermal bridging and air leakage, lowering operating energy and costs. This efficiency reduces a building's GHG by approximately 200 metric tons, compared to conventional framing.
What is BamCore?
CEO
Hal is the CEO of BamCore and its parent Global Bamboo Technologies, Inc. He was introduced to BamCore first in 2014 when building a home in Sonoma County, CA. That led to a deep dive into understanding timber bamboo’s unique growth and use potentials. Following his initial investments in BamCore, he assumed the leadership of BamCore in January 2017 and built the team that is taking BamCore forward on its mission to lower the carbon, cost, and labor now going into the built world.
During his 22 years at Goldman Sachs, Hal successfully started multiple businesses. After Goldman, he started and successfully sold BrokerTec Global, a global technology platform for the wholesale trading of financial instruments. BrokerTec was subsequently resold to the CME Group as a core asset in the CME’s $5+billion purchase of NEX. With his background in finance, markets, and starting and operating successful businesses, Hal saw BamCore as a unique and compelling opportunity to reinvent and improve timber framing in the built environment while simultaneously fighting climate change.
In 2004, Hal established the Hinkle Charitable Foundation to advocate for cultural and climate mitigation causes. In 2021, he also established the World Bamboo Foundation to specifically advocate for the recognition of timber bamboo as a powerful tool to address both climate change and mitigate global rural poverty.
He holds a BS degree (with Dean’s Honors) in biochemistry from UC Irvine and an MBA (Beta Gama Sigma) from Columbia Business School and MS, MPhil, and Ph.D. degrees from Columbia Medical School. While at Columbia Medical School, he was selected by the National Science Foundation as a Graduate Research Fellow.
Hal lives in Geyserville, in CA’s wine country, and owns Sei Querce Wines, one of the nation’s first Climate Adaptation Certified wineries.
Director, CRO
Zack is passionate about progress and sustainability in the built environment.
